How a General Dentist Looks After Your Oral Health

In our general dentistry office, we provide preventative care, teeth cleaning services, periodontics, endodontics, and restorative solutions. At Favero Family Dental, we are passionate about the overall health of our patients’ teeth and gums. We are confident that the more often you visit our Torrance, CA dental office, the healthier your mouth will be. As such, we recommend you schedule a teeth cleaning twice a year so we can remove any plaque and tartar that has built up and look for any signs of cavities, infection, or gum disease. During examinations in our 90504 dental office, we will also look for signs of oral cancer. As with any disease, early detection is critical for the ability to beat it, and we will promptly refer you to an oncologist if it appears you may have any cancerous cells.

Education Matters

Visiting our California general dentistry office is a step in the right direction for your oral health. However, we know that beyond receiving preventative care and a regular teeth cleaning, you also need to gain a better understanding of oral health. This way, we can empower you to make healthy decisions on a daily basis. At Favero Family Dental, we will provide you with information on what foods you should and should not eat for healthy teeth and gums, show you how to brush and floss properly, and provide tips and suggestions for how to maintain healthy teeth for a lifetime. We encourage you to call (310) 747-6532 with any questions you may have or to ask them during your appointment.

Preventative Care

As a Torrance general dentistry office, we aim to keep your teeth and gums in good condition, and preventative care is an excellent way to do so. A bi-annual teeth cleaning is the first step, but we may also recommend fluoride treatments and dental sealant. Fluoride is a mineral that has been proven to reduce the rate of cavities in children by 30 percent. Dental sealant is easily brushed on and seals the deep ridges on the chewing surfaces of your teeth so the likelihood of cavities is reduced. These and other preventative measures can help you maintain healthy teeth now and as you age.

Our general dentistry services include periodontics, due to the vital role your gums play in your overall oral health. By keeping your gums clean and healthy, we can protect your teeth. After all, gum disease has been linked with tooth loss. If necessary, we can restore your gum tissue by completing a gum graft, but typically, gum disease can be treated with a deep cleaning when caught early enough.

If your dental pulp (center of the tooth) becomes infected, you can end up with a bad toothache. We can treat this condition with an endodontics procedure, most commonly a root canal. In this procedure, we numb the area before creating a small hole and removing the infected portion of the tooth. After thoroughly cleaning it, the area will be sealed and the tooth restored. While root canals often have a bad reputation, they are the best way to save an infected tooth, and we will ensure your comfort during the process.

At Favero Family Dental, we can use our general dentistry services (like preventative care and a teeth cleaning) to keep you in excellent oral health so you will not need periodontics, endodontics, or restorative dentistry services. If, however, you do require more intensive dental care, we have the skill and experience necessary to do an excellent job for you and your family.
